CMC Electronics is in the news at the Asian Aerospace 2006 with some
contract announcements. Japan Airlines International (JAL) has become
the first customer of CMC's new satellite communications antenna
system called SatLite for the long-range 737-800 planes.
Japan Airlines ordered thirty 737-800s at the air show. When compared
with the Inmarsat antennas, CMC'c SatLite is compact, coming at 6.7 cm
high by 93.7 cm long by 33.3 cm wide. SatLite is CMC's response to the
new ARINC 781 specification for lightweight L-band Satcoms for
single-aisle airliners and business aircraft.
Japan Airlines International was quoted as saying that "JAL selected
CMC's SatLite because of its superior technical qualities and in
recognition of CMC's industry-leading Satcom expertise and track
record of delivering highly reliable, quality products on time."
CMC Electronics has also stuck a deal with Jeppensen so that
Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) parts from each company will be integrated
to produce a Class 2 avionics grade product.
The products from the two companies, PilotView EFB and EFB software
from Jeppensen will bring an innovative solution for the aviation
market.
At the aerospace show, CMC displayed its CMA-2082F Avionics Management
system for the German Air Force tornado midlife improvement program.
CMC will start delivering these products by November 2006 and will be
completed by 2008 for the German Air force. Earlier in 2001, CMC had
bagged an award for the design, deelopment and limited production of
this project.
CMC will provide its latest Aircraft Management System (AMS) for the
Canadian forces CH148 Cyclone. Sikorsky Aircraft has selected CMC for
the project. It will supply the multi-role helicopters for the
Canadian Maritime Helicopter (MHP) project. 28 helicopters of the
fleet will be having CMC'c AMSs.
CMC Electronics displayed integrated avionics suite for the new
Aermacchi M-311 jet trainer at the Asian Aerospace 2006.
