U.S. airlines hope that the Group on International Aviation and Climate Change (GIACC) will endorse a "basket of measures," rather than regulation, to tackle international aviation's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
GIACC, created after the ICAO General Assembly last September, will have its second meeting on July 14 in Montreal. Although the meeting is limited to government representatives from 15 countries -- including the U.S. -- the U.S. Air Transport Association says it is watching the meeting closely, even if it is not participating directly.
