According to a Times of India report, the Maharashtra government is planning to set up an airport in Thane. The airport, planned by the Maharashtra Airport Development Corporation, will be built on the public-private-partnership model. The Thane airport will be ready before the Navi Mumbai airport at Panvel is in place, said MADC managing director RC Sinha.
