At a time when the airline industry is reeling from rising oil costs and fewer passengers, Mineta San Jose International Airport got some rare good news Thursday: $18.1 million from the federal government.
David Vossbrink, the airport's spokesman, said the money from the Transportation Security Administration will be used to build a state-of-the-art baggage screening system for Terminal A. The system will electronically check for explosive devices once bags have been checked in.
