Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker is leading a delegation of airline officials to the biennial Paris Air Show being held at the Le Bourget Airport in the French capital. Qatar Airways will be present at the Paris Air Show throughout the week-long air show.
Qatar Airways will be putting on static display its latest acquisition - a Airbus A330-200 delivered min-fresh from the Airbus Toulouse plant. After the exhibition, the aircraft will take off for Doha, capital of Qatar, where Qatar Airways is head quartered. Soon afterwards, the aircraft will join commercial services.
Qatar Airways is a regular at the Paris Airshow. Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said that the airline sees the Paris air show as an opportunity to build new business networks and renew existing ones. "The Paris Air Show is regarded as one of the top aerospace industry events of the year and we are pleased to be able to use this opportunity to showcase our hospitality to visitors from around the world," he said.
Qatar Airways will set up a two-tier chalet in trademark burgundy colours at the Air Show. The five-star rated Qatar Airways has hospitality as its middle name.
2007 is a crucial year for Qatar Airways, as it enters the US skies. Qatar Airways is poised to launch flights to NewYork and Washington flights this year. The airline launches flights to Geneva on June 26, together with New York on the same date, followed three weeks later by daily services to Washington DC, beginning July 19.
Announcing its dates of presence at the Air Show, Qatar Airways said that it is the only airline which will be present at the show through the entire week of 18 - 24 June 2007.
The Paris Air Show is expected to attract over 20,000 visitors this year. It is the world's oldest and largest aerospace industry show.
Qatar Airways is one of the launch customers of the Airbus superjumbo A 380. The A380is expected to join the Qatar Airways fleet in 2009.
