BANGALORE: Thai low-cost carrier Nok Air, which positioned itself as a ‘shoppers airline,’ is suspending its operations to Bangalore. The heavy discounts on offer for brands like Bebe, Replay, Bossini and Espirit at malls in Bangkok have failed to charm passengers from the city. The airline is withdrawing its operations on the Bangalore-Bangkok route this month with its last flight operating on November 23, 2007.
Nok Air started operations in India by launching daily Bangalore-Bangkok flight in June this year. Bangalore was also the first international destination for Nok Air, which operates to 11 destinations in Thailand. After Bangalore, the airline had planned to launch daily flights from Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi to Bangkok early next year.
