NEW INDIAN CMDTrivedi takes over as CMD, Indian
Indian has a badminton enthusiast at its helm

9th January 2005 Vishwapati Trivedi has assumed charge as
the Chairman and Managing Director of Indian (formerly Indian Airlines Ltd). He took
over from Ms Sushma Chawla, who has held charge of the post of CMD for
the last seven months.
A 1977 batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, Trivedi is a
post- graduate in Economics from the London School of Economics, and a
Doctorate in International Finance from Simon Fraser University,
Canada.
Earlier, Trivedi was Joint Secretary in the Department of Industrial
Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of
India. His earlier key assignments include Principal Secretary,
Commerce and Industries and Commissioner (Commercial Tax), Govt. of MP
and Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Financial Corporation. He also
did a four-year posting with the International Monetary Fund.
Trivedi has a keen interest in badminton and cricket. He is the
Vice-President of Badminton Association of India, President of the MP
Badminton Association and Vice President of Bhopal Division Cricket
Association.
