DAMANIA AIRWAYSDamanias leave Kingfisher: ET
BY A CORRESPONDENT
April 21, 2006
Damania brothers Vispi Damania and Pervez Damania are leaving
Kingfisher Airlines, financial daily Economic Times reported. The
Damania brothers were the owners of the grounded airline Damania
Airways, which flew for sometime in the 1990s.
Damania brothers were involved with the launch of Kingfisher Airlines
from the beginning. The ET report said that a "cultural gulf" had
developed between the Kingfisher management and the Damania brothers,
leading to their exit. The report did not quote the Damania brothers
or the Kingfisher management. However, a source was quotes as saying
that Nigel Harwood, Kingfisher COO, is not quitting.
When Damania Airways was airborne, Vispi Damania was in charge of its
commercial operations while Pervez was in charge of in-flight services
and airport operations. Kingfisher Airlines, started by Vijay Mallya's
UB group last year roped in Damanias when the airline was launched.
The honeymoon, it seems, is over.
