IAF TRAINING COMMAND

BN Gokhale takes charge at Bangalore IAF training center

Air Marshal BN Gokhale has taken charge as Air Officer Commanding-in-chief at the Indian Air Force training command in Bangalore today. A veteran of of the 1971 War, Gokhale has been with the Indian Air Force fighter stream since 1968.

Gokhale was actively involved in the planning of Indian Air Force operations during the Kargill conflict. He has flown every aircraft in the Indian Air Force, and is a qualified Flying Instructor and Fighter Combat Leader.

Gokhale has been Indian defence attaché in Cairo and flying instructor with the erstwhile Iraqi air force. He has also worked as Air Advisor to the Chief of the Air Staff and as the Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations).

The Air Marshal is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington (Ooty) and an alumnus of the Air War College (USA). He is a recipient of the Ati Vishisht Sena Medal and the Vayu Sena Medal.
