Fares on 146 domestic sectors have been substantially slashed by the
state-owned airline, Indian Airlines. On Thursday, the airline
launched its 'Unchecked Fares' scheme, applicable for travel in
economy class. According to officials, the special fares are valid
till April 30, and are expected to boost air travel during the lean
season.
Under the scheme, a passenger can travel between Delhi and Kochi for
Rs 3,200 against the current lowest one-way fare of Rs 8,035. Ticket
fare between Delhi and Hyderabad has also been reduced to Rs 2,300
against the existing lowest fare of Rs 3,965. And the lowest one-way
fare between Chennai-Delhi will be available at Rs 3,200 against the
current lowest fare of Rs 5,065.
The fare for the flight between Chennai and Kochi has been lowered to
Rs 1,300 against the existing lowest fare of Rs 2,255 while a flight
between Mumbai and Bangalore will be available for Rs 2,200 against
the current lowest fare of Rs 2,975.
The offer is open for a limited number of seats. Tickets issued under
the offer will be non-reimbursable and will be valid for travel on IC
flights only. Also, unlike other flights, no frequent flyer points (FFP)
will accrue on tickets against Unchecked Fares. The scheme does not
include child and infant fares.
