TRANSJET
Jet renames Air Sahara as Transjet
Transjet to house all Sahara operations
BY A CORRESPONDENT

Air Sahara has been renamed Transjet. Jet Airways, which acquired Air
Sahara early this year, will run the operations of Air Sahara under
the brand name Transjet, NDTV reported. Transjet will be a subsidiary
of Jet Airways, and will be retained as such for a year or so. A new
corporate logo and look for Transjet is under way.
Transjet will function as a separate entity under the Jet umbrella.
According to reports, if Jet had merged Transjet with itself, it would
have to take the Air Sahara losses in books. Jet is not keen on that.
Hence the decision to keep Transjet as a separate entity, till the
airline is turned round. Once the revival part is over, Transjet will
be merged into Jet Airways.
Jet Airways is believed to have hired a consultant to work out the
branding and logo of Transjet.
Transjet will house all of the erstwhile Air Sahara's planes,
infrastructure and employees.
Interestingly, Transjet is a registered name in Australia, and Jet may
face a problem with the trademark in case it wants to fly there. Jet
Airways already has a similar issue with a US company. The American
Jet Airways Inc objected when the Indian Jet tries to launch its
operations to the country last year.
