TNT starts Indian operations
Mail, express, logistics from global firm

TNT, a global leader in providing express services across the globe
has announced the start of its Indian operations. TNT announced this
at a press conference in Mumbai. The services provided includes mail,
express and logistics services.
The India operations come as a part of TNT's vision on building
quality networks in emerging markets like India. TNT plans to invest
100 million euros into the Indian market over a period of five years.
The company's move makes it the first international brand in India
which offers international and domestic services with the help of an
integrated air and road network.
Speaking at the event Mr James McCormac, chief operating officer of
TNT's Express division said, "India is a country we are all excited
about. It has huge business potential and our expansion plan is
clearly in line with our strategic intent to focus on and develop in
the emerging markets". Emphasizing on the company's aim to globalising
its services he said, "we have been operating our international
express services in India for the past 12 years. With this launch, we
will be able to cater to a larger base of customers".
TNT has already started offering its air network solutions to
customers and will launch its road network services by mid March, 2006
as part of their phase 2 expansion plans. TNT will increase the number
of its offices from 17 to 50 with its headquarters at Bangalore. By
end 2006, the company plans to have 144 offices across the country.
TNT offers services like Time Definite, Day Definite & Value Added
Services. Two other services the company offers are TNT Sameday and
9am Express, both of which are time-critical services.
