Qatar Airways bags GCC Award
Union ministry of company affairs gives green signal to Jet Airways

Qatar Airways has bagged the prestigious GCC Economic award at a
ceremony in Dubai. The award is in recognition of Qatar Airways vision
and leadership across the Gulf.
The GCC award which was organized by Datamatix reflects the impact
made on the development and enhancement of the GCC economy as a whole.
The award came as no surprise to Qatar Airways which has emerged as a
large scale international airline form a small regional player in a
short span of 10 years.
Qatar Airways is one of the fastest growing airliners in the world.
Since taking over the charge of the business in 1996, Chief Executive
Office Akbar Al Baker has been instrumental in the growth of the
airline.
The award was given to Qatar Airways Senior Manager Commercial (East)
at the GCC Economic Award at the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai. Many
world leaders, ministers, academics and researchers and former German
chancellor Gerhard Schroeder also attended the function.
The award panel consisted of industry experts, business analysts and
top executives from regional and global organizations.
Baker said, "I am delighted on behalf of Qatar Airways for being
honored with this wonderful award. As an airline, Qatar Airways has
come a long way since our relaunch in 1997. The world's eyes are
looking at Qatar Airways as an airline with a strong mission to be
among the best in the world."
Qatar Airways has a 44 Airbus fleet operating in 69 destinations. Also
the airline expects its fleet to grow triple in the next 10 years. The
airline has placed orders for 60 Airbus A350s and 20 Boeing 777s
estimated at a total US$ 15.2 billion.
