Air Sahara pilots continued their mass leave on Monday, leaving many
flights cancelled and rescheduled. As many as 12 flights were
cancelled on Monday, including a flight to Singapore. Seemanto Roy,
son of Sahara chief Subroto Roy, reportedly conducted talks with the
agitating pilots, but no agreement has been reached on how to sort out
of the issue. it is now expected that the strike will continue on
Tuesday too.
Air Sahara pilots are worried over potential loss of job or seniority
with Jet Airways taking over Air Sahara. Jet Airways has already made
it clear that not all pilots will be absorbed. A recent decision of
Jet Airways interviewing Sahara staffers seems to have added fuel to
the fire.
Air Sahara flights from Mumbai Delhi and Kokata were affected
throughout the day. Flights to Singapore, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Jammu
were among those cancelled.
Some Air Sahara officials were quoted as saying that the company may
take action against the striking pilots. However, there has been no
official confirmation to this.
