Paramount Airways is negotiating with Singapore Airlines and other
international airlines to work out the possibility of tie-ups that
will allow the transport of their international passengers over Indian
airspace, Business Standard newspaper reported.
The managing director of Paramount Airways, M Thiagarajan was quoted
as saying that the talks are expected to produce concrete
collaborations by the end of this month. According to the report, the
talks have been generated as a result of the team of managerial staff
the airlines recruited from Singapore Airlines, as well as the
acquisition of a second Embraer aircraft that would enable the
airlines to operate 24 flights a day.
Thiagarajan also said that Paramount Airways is currently looking to
build its hangar in Chennai, where it has seven parking slots. Plans
are on to operate flights from five major South Indian cities -
Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Cochin. Paramount
already has three parking slots in Coimbatore, where it was based
earlier. Plans are also on to continue its New Delhi-Chennai-New Delhi
flights.
Paramount Airways has entered into several domestic arrangements
already, as a result of the heavy load it faces in terms of air
traffic. It shares support systems in New Delhi with SpiceJet, and
also has an understanding with Air India that allows it access to Air
India's infrastructure as and when required.
