Chennai fog disrupts flights

Several international and domestic flights were cancelled from Chennai due to heavy fog at the Chennai international Airport early this week. Chennai-Dubai Emirates Airlines flight and Chennai-London British Airways flight, scheduled to take-off at 0330 hrs and 0400 hrs respectively were delayed due to fog conditions for more than three hours, with passengers on board.

Other flights which were delayed due to poor visibility include Chennai-Port Blair Alliance Airlines, Chennai-Delhi Indian Airlines, Chennai-Delhi Jet Airways and Chennai-Bangalore Indian Airlines.

After a long halt at Hyderabad, the Dubai -Chennai Indian Airlines landed at the airport at 0830 hours, several hours behind schedule.

Many of the incoming and outgoing flights from the airport came under the fog conditions, resulting in a 2 hour delay. The fog continued for the second consecutive day today.
