Kingfisher Airlines has taken delivery of a brand-new ATR 72-500 aircraft. This is the first aircraft to be delivered to the Indian premium scheduled airline under the a recent deal to acquire 35 planes with a 20 more on option.

Kingfisher Airlines chairman Vijay Mallya and ATR Corp CEO Filippo Bagnato were present at the ceremony to hand over the new aircraft in Kingfisher Airlines livery at Toulose.

Dr Mallya said that the new ATR aircraft will allow Kingfisher Airlines to develop its route network and introduce new routes and flights not previously served. "We are excited to induct this Aircraft into our ever expanding fleet," he added.

Mr Bagnato said that his company is proud to be associated with Kingfisher Airline's plan to develop more commercial routes in India. He also said this was ample evidence that the ATR aircraft are well suited for India.

Equipped with the new Elegance cabin, the aircraft is delivered with the newest technological innovations in the field of communications and navigation aid tools and IFE (in-flight entertainment).
