Low-cost airline SpiceJet has announced that it will be starting new
flights to Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai and Srinagar. A daily flight
between Hyderabad and Mumbai has also been initiated. The decision to
add new flights follows the expansion of SpiceJet's fleet to six
Boeing 737-800 aircraft. In addition, according to Spicejet Director
Ajay Singh, the decision also comes in the wake of good responses to
its existing flights on these routes. Bookings for the flights on the
Delhi-Srinagar sector are already open, with the flights taking off
from May 10, 2006.
SpiceJet, which operates to 11 destinations, (including Delhi, Mumbai,
Ahmedabad, Goa, Pune, Bangalore, Kolkata, Jammu, Srinagar, Chennai &
Hyderabad) has chosen Srinagar on account of its tourism potential.
According to Singh, "It's a pleasure to start daily flights to the
beautiful valley of Srinagar. Keeping in view, the growing numbers of
domestic and international tourists on this sector, the additional
flight has been introduced."
He added, "Srinagar is among the premier holiday & leisure hubs in
India and is attracting a growing number of domestic tourists.
SpiceJet through this effort intend to catalyze this process with an
unbeatable value proposition."
