Jet Airways has big plans for flying overseas. Jet is readying new
flights to Bangkok, London and Singapore.
Jet Airways already has a Mumbai-London service and the second flight
is expected to take off in June. A third flight from Delhi to London
Heathrow is also on the cards. Permission to start a flight to Bangkok
is also awaited.
Jet is expected to start the Bakgkok flight from Kokata, a route which
may bring it "religious traffic" besides having the advantage of being
closer to Thailand. The Delhi-Singapore flight may be started by
December of this year.
Jet Airways also said that the airline is now earning about 67% of its
revenues from cargo operations. Jet's outgoing COO Peter Luethi said
that from Chennai itself, the airline carried about 66 tonnes of cargo
every day. Cargo is carried on 53 aircraft on 307 daily flights, he
added.
