TRIVANDRUM FLIGHTS

Air Deccan launches Trivandrum-Delhi, Trivandrum-Mumbai flights

Trivandrum is new base for Air Deccan

BY A CORRESPONDENT
May 1, 2006

After an initial hiccup, Air Deccan last week started flights from Trivandrum to Mumbai and Delhi, via Kochi and Chennai respectively. Air Deccan had to defer its flights from Trivandrum since the Airbus aircraft to service the route did not arrive in time.

The Air Deccan Delhi flight leaves Trivandrum at 6.50 am and reaches Chennai at 7.55 am. It will leave Chennai airport at 8.25 am and reach Delhi at 11.05 am. So, total travel time from Trivandrum to Delhi on Air Deccan will be 4 hours and 15 minutes.

The Air Deccan flight from Delhi leaves for Trivandrum at 12 pm and arrives at Chennai at 2.30 pm. The flight leaves Chennai at 3.05 pm and arrives at 4.10 pm in Trivandrum.

The Mumbai flight will leave Trivandrum at 4.50 pm, reach Kochi at 5.20 pm and land in Mumbai at 7.35 pm. The total travel time = 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Air Deccan will be using an Airbus A320 to service these two routes. According to Air Deccan chief revenue officer John Kuruvilla, Trivandrum will be the seventh base for Air Deccan in the country.

He also said Air Deccan plans to start selling its tickets through six gas stations in Trivandrum, in a month's time.
