British Airways will be operating five times a week from Chennai to
London Heathrow airport and an additional flight out of Bangalore from
May 4.
The new flight (BA 118) will take off from Bangalore International
Airport at 5.45 hours (IST) on Thursday and arrive at London Heathrow
Airport at 11.50 hours (UK time). With the introduction of the
additional flight, the number of flights from Bangalore has increased
from five to six per week.
British Airways currently operates 35 flights per week from London
Heathrow to five cities in India, including twice daily to Mumbai,
three times per week to Kolkata. Now, the airline will operate 42
direct flights per week from India to London.
"The response evoked by the recently-launched route connecting
Bangalore with London-Heathrow has led British Airways to advance its
plans and add more frequencies out of Bangalore,” said Alok Sawhney,
British Airways Commercial Manager, India.
British Airways views India as a significant market and has made a
number of announcements recently for the Indian customer.
