Bangalore-based feeder airline Air One is expected to launch low-cost
national flights in February. Air One is promoted by some former
Indian Airlines officials, besides businessmen. Air One plans to start
operating in Bangalore-Traivandrum and Bangalore-Delhi routes to start
with.
Air One is expecting to launch its maiden flights with two Embraer
aircraft leased from Swiss International Airlines. The two Embraer
ERJ-145 aircraft are leased at a fee of $150000 a month.
Air One also plans to expand its fleet to five within a year.
According to Air One MD JW Lobo, Air One needs about Rs 33 crore for
the launch and another Rs 25 crore to expand fleet. The Air One MD
says that he is confident of raising the finances, since several
financial institutions have shown interest in the new airline.
If all goes well, we can see Air One low-cost flights in Indian skies
in February. |
