FIRE ALARM

Fire alarm triggers panic in Jet aircraft at Srinagar

Nothing to worry, it was just a technical fault

BY A CORRESPONDENT
May 1, 2006
A technical snag with a Jet Airways aircraft caused a delay of 40 minutes at the Jammu airport last week. The aircraft was to take off for Srinagar with the passengers on board when the fire alarm rang out.

Passengers were immediately disembarked from the plane and some of the reported that they "something like a smoke".

A thorough checking followed, and it was found that there was no fire in the plane - it was just the fire alarm which had developed a technical snag and went off. The flight left for Srinagar soon thereafter.
