AIR INDIA WOMEN FLIGHT SUPERVISORSAir India in court over inducting female flight supervisors
BY A CORRESPONDENT
6th January 2005
Four inflight supervisors at Air India have taken Air India to court
following the airline allowing female flight supervisors onboard its
flights. The petition was filed in the Delhi High Court.
The first two female supervisors selected by Air India are Persis Modi
and Maharook Chikliwala.
Till now, only men were allowed the post of in-flight supervisor, the
seniormost ailine official on a plane. Now, Air India management has
allowed women too, training and selecting a couple of them for the
post. However, their male colleagues find nothing amusing about this,
since they feel that only men are allowed this post as per Air India's
rules.
A few years back, Indian Airlines discontinued this practice and
allowed women also to hold the post of flight supervisor. Air India
woke up late, but has met with resistance.
Flight supervisor is the seniormost official on an airline, to whom
all the other crew on the plane report. |
