Indigo Airlines awaits Airbuses for launch

Planes will start flying in from July

Low-cost airline IndiGo is taxiing for takeoff, with its Airbuses due to arrive in July. Indigo, which had made a splash at the Paris air show with its order for 100 Airbus aircraft is planning to launch operations this year.

Out of its bulk order, IndiGo will receive six Airbus aircraft this year and seven next year. The delivery schedule of the Airbus planes is still to be worked out.

Though the planes will start coming only in July, it can launch its low-cost fights earlier, with leased aircraft. The company has already asked for parking bays in key airports.
IndiGo is based in New Delhi, a venture by Interglobe Enterprises and Rakesh Gangwal.
