Air connectivity between Kerala capital Trivandrum with Indian metros
is steadily improving, with more domestic airlines deciding to
commence operations to the Thiruvananthapuram International airport.
Air travellers stand to gain better options to choose among different
airlines. It is also expected that tourist arrivals to the southern
districts of the state will increase too.
Air Deccan's daily flights to Chennai and Bangalore from
Thiruvananthapuram will commence from February first week.
Jet Airways has already announced daily flights to Chennai and
Bangalore from February 1. The airline is to operate ATR aircraft
in this route.
Kingfisher Airline is another player which has approached the
authorities for clearance. Crescent Air is also waiting for clearance
to commence daily flights from Thiruvananthapuram to Male.
GoAir, which has already made its presence in the western region has
already obtained clearance to operate from Thiruvananthapuram and is
expected to commence its flights very soon.
From February onwards, travellers proceeding to New Delhi and Mumbai
will not have to depend anymore on direct flights of Indian and Air
India alone. With choices booming, the customer is king again.
