Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd (MIAL) has opened a brand new
section at Terminal 1B Departures, Chhatrapati Shivaji International
Airport (CSIA), to passengers. The Terminal is operational from 28
June 2006. With a fresh look and feel, the modernised Terminal
(Departure II) will provide better facilities to improve passenger
management at the domestic terminal.
The opening of Departure II marks the partial opening of the new
Terminal 1B. This new section facilitates Jetairways domestic
departures from CSIA. Some of the other airlines will continue to have
their check-in counters at their current locations at Terminal 1B with
the exception of Indian, Go Air, Alliance and Kingfisher which operate
out of the Terminal 1A.
“MIAL is glad to open the new section at Departures of Terminal 1B
which is just the first step in making passenger travel from Mumbai
airport easier, faster and a comfortable experience” says G V Krishna
Reddy, Chairman MIAL.
With the opening of Departure II, Terminal 1B will have a total of 80
check-in counters, which will help decongest the existing check-in
areas and reduce queuing time. Passengers will be greeted with a
larger waiting area and an electronic flight information display.
The security hold area will continue to remain common for both the
departure sections of Terminal 1B currently. The new security hold
area along with the arrival area will also be opened shortly for
greater passenger comfort.
