Minutes before a small plane crashed into a golf course west of Boynton Beach, killing both pilots and critically injuring a passenger Saturday night, the radio crackled in the Palm Beach International Airport control tower.
"We have engine problems. We need to land as soon as possible," one of the doomed pilots said, according to recorded radio transmissions available on the Internet. "We are unable to maintain altitude. We don't know how long the engine is going to hold for." "We are in a panic situation right now." It was last the air traffic controllers heard from them.
