Leasing company AWAS (Ireland) Ltd. announced a deal to buy as many as 100 Airbus jetliners valued at $6.9 billion, a sign that the frothy market for jets has yet to die down.
The order comes as Airbus and rival Boeing Co. are still vying for bragging rights over sales in 2007, a record year for orders and the third year of particularly strong sales. Boeing last week said it booked 1,413 net orders, after cancellations, surpassing the previous industry record of 1,055, set by Airbus in 2005.
