NEW DELHI: Ferrying a large number of tourists without having sufficient hotel rooms to put them in, may hurt the inbound tourism that has witnessed boom following the open sky policy, aviation and tourism industry leaders say.
Rigid land use laws, skyrocketing real estate prices and steeplechase of formalities have kept the industry from building more hotels required to accommodate the swell in tourist arrivals.

If India has an Open Sky agreement with another country, it means that both the countries have opened their skies for each other :) literally. This gives both countries unrestricted landing rights on each others' soil. Normally landing rights are granted for a fixed number of flights per week to a fixed destination. Each adjustment takes a lot of negotiating, often between governments rather than between the companies involved. An Open Skies agreement makes it easy. No rules, no regulations!
